Our customer was planning to implement an automated toll station. The hardware would take payment with cash or credit card, collect those payments and also connect to a camera for license plate recognition.
Durability and reliability were of top concern for an implementation that would improve the ease and speed of collection of toll payments. This would make the toll collection more pleasant for drivers but would also improve trafic flow as cash payments transitioned to wireless methods.
The equipment also needed to be quick and easy to fix in the unlikely event of hardware failure. This ability to bring systems back online as quickly as possible would further improve the overall quality of service delivery.
A computer that is tough, reliable, upgradeable, fixable and robust enough to withstand the stress of continuous operation 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
